In 2007, private pilot Uwe Thomas Carstensen took off in his single-engine, rose-painted Cessna Marie to fly round the world in 80 days.
In 2011, he flew round Africa in 60 days. And now he’s setting himself yet another challenge: he’ll be flying around South America and North America in two big legs.
The trip will start in Hanover, Germany on 8 January 2018. The first leg will take him via Cascais (Portugal), Gran Canaria (Spain) and Dakar (Africa) until
he arrives in Brazil on 18 January 2018. And via Natal, Rio de Janeiro and all the way to Santiago – with a detour to Cape Horn and the Antarctic.
Marie will undergo maintenance and servicing here before she starts out on the second leg of the trip via Latin America, the US, Canada and the Azores in May 2018.
