Pilot Uwe Thomas Carstensen (60) and his co-pilot are the 138th team to fly round the earth in a small single-engine aircraft since 1924 - the first crew from Hannover since Elly Beinhorn flew round the world in 1931/32.
The pilot explains why: “Well, I’m fascinated by flying and particularly with the idea that I can fly round the world in a small aircraft as a private person. It shows that the world has shrunk thanks to technical and economic progress.
So as far as I’m concerned, globalisation means understanding among nations all the more.
We're looking forward to all the people we will encounter and all their different political and religious view.”
