One station of the journey is Kathmandu, the capitol of Nepal.
The airport lies in a basin of the Himalayas.
Only those receive a landing permission who can prove that they are already trained in this difficult approach to the mountains with a flight instructor at the simulator.
This is only one of the many tasks to be done before a world orbiting.
Without the professional assistance of "good spirits" on the ground, all this wouldn't be possible, because the clouds also hold limits to liberty.
Our globetrotters will land on 55 airfields and fly over 30 countries. Each station means a sovereign act.
In the weeks prior to the journey, landing permissions and flyover permissions had to be organised and entry visas to be requested. The flight plan including the hotel reservations had to be made.
So the crew starts from Hannover with a suitcase full of official papers.
At each airport, the crew will be received by the handling agents who know a lot about special regulations at the respective target airport.
So they help the German guests to go through all formalities.
On many flights they will wear pilot uniforms corresponding to the usual dress order for pilots.
